Titus led me to your site and after devouring every page on this site I am so very impressed. I have some native American blood coursing through my veins and have always been drawn to their world. Never have I taken the time to visit a reservation and immerse into the culture. My husband and I are studying shamanism and the ancient ways of healing. We also run a non-profit in Littleton, Zumas Rescue Ranch that rescues horses and pairs them with troubled children in the foster care system. We would love to meet Stanford and learn from him.
I am looking forward to meeting you at one of your book signings. You tell a captivating story, can’t wait to read the entire book.

Something caught my eye about taming wild horses and I turned to page 80 to read what I thought was an article. Lisa’s writing is so good that I kept thinking to myself, “how did she think of that?” I am a writer too, although I have not yet tried to publish, and I appreciate good writing as much as anything else creative.

I have read hundreds of memoirs, most of the popular ones and many obscure and although I haven’t read Lisa’s full book yet, I expect that it will rank with a few of my favorites. Many memoirs are touching while being read, few stick with you long afterwords- I know based on that excerpt that this will be one that does.

The next day, I ordered the book, two day delivery. I wrote to Lisa and asked if she coached aspiring writers. While I was reading the excerpt I was already planning on who to tell about the book and today on my Facebook, I proposed to my almost 600 friends a “Kathy Benson” book club, because I teach Personal Development workshops and I have a lot of participants who will be inspired by such a moving story.

I had never heard of Lisa before I read the excerpt in Spirit, but now I want to read whatever she has written. Her writing is poetic, smart and uplifting. Be careful, you might even find yourself crying in public.
